I do not know much about the fuel system / ignition in a GTV6, but I had at 
one time a 1981 BMW 528i with Bosch L-Jetronic injection and an electronic 
ignition system with a pickup coil in the distributor and separate 
electronic module.  The car would just plain die when it got hot. Cost me a 
bundle for mechanics that knew little about diagnosing problems of this 
nature and long flat bed tows home. I took my "heat gun" and went looking 
for the problem. It turned out to be the pickup coil in the distributor for 
the ignition. It would open up when it got hot.
