When my buddy and I picked up my Berlina in Santa Barbara, we stayed in
Monterey on the way back. We camped in a really very decent campground (car
camp style) on the hill above the Cannery area. It was the VA campground or
something like that. Probably more adventure than you are looking for, but
is a great stop for someone on a coastal roadtrip. Cheers,
