If the pump is leaking, it's toast.
The L-Jet supply pump is the preferred replacement to the old SPICA/Bosch
pumps. It has plenty of capacity and quantity to satisfy the SPICA FI pump.
The silver end is the inlet and the black end is the outlet. Pos and Neg
posts are labeled if you look closely. They use ring connectors rather than
spade connectors. Also, the pump is slightly smaller in diameter, so you'll
have to use a piece of thin rubber matting or something equal to have the
original bracket grip the pump.
Since the L-Jet pump has slightly less gpm capacity, you need to also make
the restrictor in the FI pump's outlet fitting a little smaller. Stock is
about 3/32". You'll need to use a common propane torch and some electrical
solder to fill in the hole, then redrill it to 1/16". This will give you
about 10 psi on the battery only and about 15 psi with the alternator
running. If you don't narrow the restrictor, you'll only get about 6-7 psi
on battery (and probably a low pressure light) and 10 psi on the alternator.
The fuel low pressure warning light is set at 7 psi. From my experience, the
FI pump is much happier with 15 psi in normal running. Modifying the
restrictor is very fast and easy.
