RE: [alfa] Re: Milano engine re & re
Graham -
I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to here ...
I removed a Milano engine less than a year ago, and left all the wiring
attached to the starter as well as the exhaust headers on the engine and
pulled it altogether. I was able to disconnect the starter harness from the
battery and various other places where it attached and it came out with
everything else.
Much easier to do it this way IMHO, but to each his own.
I may have some photos that show the engine on the stand with the harness
dangling in the air. If anyone wants to see them, LMK and I'll see if I can
find them.

<FWIW, Carson is dealing with the Milano configuration (battery in engine
bay; + cable from battery directly to starter), while Jeff is refering to
GTV-6 (battery in trunk; + cable terminal on firewall); similar, but
different. Each is correct for his arena of experience. IMHO that the
starter is not all that difficult to r&r, especially with the motor out
of the car. The cable is tucked behind the starter to protect it from
the heat of the exhaust manifold. It gets easier with practice - I'm
sure is what you wanted to hear (try doing it with the motor in the car
in January with that cold Canadian air blowing up your *ss).>
