[alfa] Gas smell in spider

Another cause of "gas smell" in the spider is the one way check valve in the evaporative emission control system is sticking. Go in the the trunk pull down the cover in front; behind the jack you'll see a thumb hole. There is a plastic tank in there with a hose and valve on the end of the hose. Blow through the valve and you should be able free it up. I would think this is your problem. Cars that sit over the winter months seem to have a greater problem with this sticking valve than cars that are driven year round.
