Hi all..
After much hassle of intake manifold swapping from my earlier episode,
#1119 is back running again!
I have a bypass valve that I left out last time, to measure, look at,
fondle, etc.. for my reverse engineering concept. (not dead yet, I may
still figure out how to do cheap repro's) Anyway, draining the coolant
was a great opportunity to finally stick the thing in there to see what
kind of difference it makes.
Strange thing, I slid it in the end near the thermostat, valve end
pointing to the 'stat, which was also the end that had the bulge and
internal notch. Lubed it with some brake seal lube (silicone, non
rubber attacking) and it slipped in easily. After starting up the car,
and driving it around, I noticed that the bypass valve had slid all the
way down the hose, and was down at the waterpump side!!
I don't know if this is due to aftermarket hose ID, or that I used that
lube, or both. Wondering if anyone else had something like this
happen, and if there was/might be any problem as a result.
I did have a slight leak, at the joint of the thermo housing and
hose.. probably coindcidental, and a few turns on the hose clamp fixed
that. That was the reason I felt for the bypass, wondered if it caused
it somehow. It was a strange feeling squeezing the hose and finding the
valve missing!!
