[alfa] Spider emergency brake lever / handle removal

In my lifetime I've managed to remove one "plastic" handle from the
emergency brake lever so the unit could be rechromed.

I'm adamant I'm going to remove at least one more, but it's giving me
fits. Thought I had a good idea and kept the unit in the freezer for 24
hours, then dipped the plastic handle in boiling water. Other than
turning the plastic handle white, not much happened. With careful but
enthusiastic hammering on the underneath of the handle, I've moved it
about an 1/8".

Pray tell, is there a better way?
