As I recall, you will probably need to drill most of the rivet out, and then
use a cold chisel to knock it free. Use some grade 8 bolts to put the new
one, no worries there.

You do knock the lower ball joint out with a large chisel as it is pressed
into the control arm. Once the nut is off, a couple of good whacks with a
chisel and BFH should get it out.

Put the new one in the freezer the night before, it will go in a little
easier. I can't recall exactly how I put them in, I somewho support the
joint and/or control arm with a floor jack and a large socket. A couple of
whacks on the control arm usually drives it home. DO NOT RELY ON THE STUD TO
INSTALL THE JOINT, it won't do the job and you'll end up stripping or
breaking something.

       Im getting ready to replace most of the bushings/ ball joints
on the front of the GTV6. The lower ball joint is held by a screw
but the upper is held by two rivets. Has anyone had the pleasure
of taking this one apart? Would a cold chisel be too hard on adjancent
parts? Maybe drilling these out is the way? When it's apart will a
pair of bolts and nylock nuts be stout enough or do I need rivets?
