Hi Craig:

I think it was Peter Krause that wrote in this Digest that he met his 
girlfriend because she kept bringing her series 3 or 4 Spider to his shop 
for the same noisy valves.  If I recall, Peter concluded that it was the 
cam profiles, and not a problem, per se.  My '87 does the same thing, and 
I've never been able to figure it out, although since all the clearances 
are correct and the chain is tight, I've about given up.  When it bothers 
me too much, I just drive the '74 for a few weeks.
