[alfa] Re: alfa-digest V10 #93 4:10 differential

Hi John,

EP, huh?, what diameter tires are you using?. I made this change to my SCCA
DSP autocross Spider several years ago, and got a complete axle from a
Series 4 Spider (1991-1994) from the old Prestige Imports in Cincinnati (now
European Auto Specialists: Lee Scovanner 513-891-0450). The change moved my
2-3 shift point up around 8 MPH (at 7000 RPM with 22.3 in. diameter
Hoosiers). This is a good change: 3rd gear is still used but only on faster
courses, and 2nd is still low enough that 1st is not necessary. I sent the
unit to Jack Beck for LSD differential shimming, have you found any nearby
sources to do this?. The 1990 Motronic Spider is kind of a transition car,
and might also have the correct ratio, but you should be sure and count
driveshaft vs.axle revolutions (You are best advised to keep your hands off
of your wife's Series 4 Spider).
