Just to put my $0.02 into the fray, I've had a TR4 since 1991, and a TR3, a
couple of Sunbeam Alpines, and a Rover 3500S before that. If you think a
Rover 2000TC is overly complicated, you should see what they did for their
top of the line model.
For me, the TR4 is a great compliment to my GTV. It's mechanically simple
and direct, and climbing in is like saddling up for a ride. It's well cared
for, and has been bullet-proof reliable in return. The GTV is far more
sophisticated, delicate, and light on its feet. The SPICA impresses and
scares me. Each car has its place.
