The both the inner and outer bushings for the idler timing chain 
sprocket are reemed at the same time with the front cover mounted to the 
block and Alfa tool A.4.0112 mounted to the front cover. This tool also 
locates on the front of the crankshaft so that it is properly positioned 
with regards to the crank center.
That being said timing covers can probably be interchanged in most cases 
however a slight misalignment in the two bushings can result in abnormal 
wear to the bushings and rocking of the idler shaft.
