[alfa] re: 164 V6 Valve Guides Followup (Stuck Rocker Shaft)
I have the exact same problem with my 164 engine...the
rear bank rocker shaft will not come out for anything!
I can move it by running a bolt into it, then jamming
a nut and washer up against the head, but it is very,
very hard going. People say you can "rotate" it
just by putting a bolt into the end. NO WAY! That
baby is stuck in there.
I have decided to leave well enough alone; I pounded
the rocker shaft back into position. The rocker arms
all move freely, so I figure all is well and I should
let this sleeping dog lie. Why pull the rocker shaft
out anyway?
Is this a common problem with 164 engines? The manual
makes one believe that the rocker shaft should come
out rather easily, yet it doesn't. What can cause this
condition? Is it best to just leave the rocker shaft
in there, even though I'm planning to do a valve job?
