[alfa] Vintage Radio

Here is what you do...look in Hemmings for someone to restore old car
radios. Or look for someone that does radio restorations. There are clubs
for people who restore old table top and console radios.
Have them rebuild the radio components. Chances are that the electrolytic
capacitors have dried out and are no longer functioning. You can get new
ones installed and the radio should work. The hardest part might be to find
the vibrator that turns DC in to AC to run the tubes. Some of them are made
of unobtainium.
Some tubes now have electronic components in them and have a special name
that escapes me. Most tubes are available if you know where to source. The
only source for tubes now in the world are made in China and the majority in
Russia in batch runs.
No reason a tube radio can't be made to run if you just go look for the
right source.
