[alfa] 81 Spider Questions

It's finally time to get started on this car.

A couple of questions. I started it yesterday, and it's running rough. I expected that. It also is leaking a lot of fuel from the front fuel filter area. It's tough to see where, but I will replace all the fuel line and filters first. I can get the filters from the usual sources, but is the fuel line from the tank to the first filter "special" or can I just get it at any good auto shop? What size is it? I don't want to bring in a piece, and get an "It'll fit" size.

Being an 81, I have the much maligned Monofarfalle system. I intend on keeping it fool injected, but would it be a crime to replace the system with one from an earlier car? I bought a pump, injectors, manifold and such from an earlier car. I hope to send the pump of to Wes Ingram, and replace the one in the car with the rejuvented setup. (I'm going with the stock rebuilding, not an HP pump). I haven't looked at the pump to crossreference the type with the year, but anything must be better than what I have now.

I have an idea that someone tried to do some work to the head, because the 2 bolts on the front of the motor were not replaced. would I damage the motor by running it with these bolts out? I only noticed they were missing after I gave the car a motor run.
