[alfa] GTV engine woes

Spiros (and how many ships / freighters do you own?) Angelopoulos has a bit of a problem with coolant pouring out of some of the loosened nuts on his GTV's head.

First the good news: Your coolant system is in good working order.

Second: You Always start with the middle head nuts and essentially work back and forth.

Third: Apparently your cooling system had held enough pressure that when you released "the pressure' by loosening a head nut, it quite matter of factly came whooshing out. Perhaps you loosened it a bit more than the others. Doesn't matter unless it continues to leak water after retorquing all of the head nuts.

If so, you need to remove (one-by-one) any of the leaking nuts. Then place medium coarse sand paper on a very flat surface and carefully even out both sides of the washer and the bottom of the nut. Check each surface carefully before proceeding to the next to make sure it is precisely smooth. Replace nut / washer then move on to the next little leaker.

Basically, you're fine but agree it is a bit disconcerting. Do remember all of the head studs are immersed in coolant.
