Regarding the loss of coolant through the head stud opening, if you take a 
careful look at the washers themselves, you will see that they have a down side 
that is machined a bit better than their up side. I've learned that fasteners, 
gaskets and sealing washers are specifically oriented on Alfas in many 
instances. Especially where torque is an important consideration.
