[alfa] 164 valve job cost? duration?

Hello digesters,
I have a 92 164 which has a leaking rear valve cover gasket (the one under the intake manifold) before I spend all the time replacing it I thought maybe i should have a valve job done since they will need to do essentially all the same work as i will just replacing the gasket. I was wondering how often should I have the valves adjusted and how much does it generally cost? I've heard 850 which is awfully steep and if thats the case I may have to wait a while before i can do it. In which case I will prolly just replace the gasket for now. my car goes in tuesday for other repairs.
