[alfa] RE: No Clear coat?
No clear coat huh? I'm not sure how common that practice is...well; I've
never noticed it before. I do see people using singe stage which I'm not a
big fan of; it fades really easily if you don't wax often enough.
My understanding is that just plain color would lead to a very dull finish.
Well, if not properly taken care of. I'd imagine they used single stage
paint and not a base color and clear combination. Unfortunately, I'm not an
expert painter, although I did just finish working the paint on my GTV-6.
For all those interested to see what a GTV6 hood looks like stripped and
repainted with single stage check out my weblog. www.xanga.com/jrreeve

Subject: Re: [alfa] Clear Coat on Alfa Red Paint?
Hi Ray:
Well, I've also got an '87 Spider Veloce, and there's no clear coat over
the "Nero Pastello", so I don't imagine there'd be a clear coat over your
"Rosso".
I can't say anything about the metallics, though, other than I wish I'd
found one to buy at the time I bought the black Spider, either that dark
red or blue/gray.
Regards,
Dean
