[alfa] RE: Synthetic oil for S4 Spiders

Peter Krause's commnet regarding using Mobil 1 re-started a question I have
had for some time.

I store my Spider every October for its long winter nap. One part of my
storage ritual is to replace the Castrol oil and factory filter, drive the car
about 25 miles and kiss it good night for its October to May hibernation.

So ... if you were to move to Mobil 1 or similar, would you follow this same
routine -or- store it with "used" oil? I have always stored the car with
"fresh" oil and a clean filter but does synthetic have different properties
that eliminate the need to replace the oil prior to storage?

BTW ... after its early spring rides, the oil and filter are replaced for the
summer season.

Thoughts?

Mobil 1, 15W-50 is all we've ever used for the four-dozen S4 ('91-'94)
Spiders we look after.
