Re: [alfa] 78 Spider No Staaaaarrrght
Hi Gwynne:
Aurora's listings aren't quite perfect, but the L-Jet ('82-'89 are the
correct years) wires will work on the '90-'94 Motronic cars. the wires for
the Bosch Spiders have a right-angle sparkplug boot, while the Spica/Weber
wires use a straight boot and also have a much longer coil wire. The newer
wires can be used on the older cars, but not vice-versa, as the right-angle
boots are necessary because of all the intake plumbing over the cam
cover. I also changed the coil boot from a straight to right-angle type,
just because it looked a bit better, but wasn't strictly necessary, and
Aurora will do that for you before shipping, at your request. The Aurora
wires are also a little larger in diameter, so the wire loom that passes
over the front of the cam cover needed a slight modification, but it was
very quick and easy. The Magnecor wires are another alternative that work
well, and the same caveat applies to the wire loom over the cam cover.

So, has the "new" Spider arrived yet?

Dean

Looking at the Aurora web site, they list wires for all the Spiders up to
1991, (1960- 1974, 1975 - 1981, 1982- 1991) but not the 1992/93 cars. Does
anyone know why this would be - what the differences are?
