[alfa] torsion bar mathematics?

Oh...

Well, anyway, Greg's already answered that.

I had a crazy idea, though. For an adjustable rate spring (this is _NOT_
the textbook way to do this,) you _could_ run the splines a long distance
up the bar and vary the fore/aft distance of the rear mount. Moving the
rear mount up and down the splines would vary the effective length of the
bar (assuming it didn't fail at the splines) and give you an adjustable
rate spring. It's not the way I would want to do it, but it _might_ work if
the rule book said you couldn't do it any other way. Of course, you don't
really need an adjustable rate spring, you just need the spring rate that
you need....
