[alfa] Brembo rotors and 164 chips

The best way to improve brakes is to use high quality slotted rotors, such
as those made by Brembo. They may not look as cool as drilled discs but
work better. Don't be fooled by cheap imitations because they will crack
most of the time after severe use. Also, Brembo doesn't make discs that are
both slotted and drilled. That's just a gimmick that some people use.

Regarding pads, nothing beats OE quality pads that give off a ton of dust.
All that dust is there because the high carbon content of OE European pads
allows for very quick stops as one is trying to slow down while going
200km/h on the autostrada. This doesn't mean that the factory pad is the
best, only that if you do your homework, you'll eventually find that factory
type pads usually work the best. The trick is to try out enough compounds
by the various OE manufacturers such as Jurid, Pagid, Textar and Ate to find
the best for your way of driving. Those who need, for whatever reason, a
dustless pad can look at other options which in my opinion are far less
effective.

And here's my question for the group. What is the consensus on chipping a
1991 164S? Who out there is making them for this car other than the couple
outlets in Europe?

Thanks.

Gary
