well, it seems a bit excessive to me. slotting alone would seem most
appropriate.

for a really good discussion of brakes, see _Brake Handbook_,
Fred Puhn, HPBooks 328. Carroll Smith didn't spend any time on
brakes in his legendary race engineering series because he felt
that Puhn had covered the territory very well.
