RE: [alfa] 2004 AROC convention

I took a few days to think of a reply to this message. First of all I spent a lot of money to go to the Convention. I'm not rich and don't have a rare Alfa so I guess I had to pay for my registration and meals :-(. Carole, Victoria, Philip and me had a GREAT time.

I did not notice nor cared if TZ's, 33's or "Historic "Alfas where there or not. I was so impressed by all the events, how they were organized, all the "production" Alfas and wonderful people. I will never forget the smile on my daughter's (Victoria) face as we did lap after lap on parade at NHIS or the way she was laughing as we ran the Autocross course in my humble 164. She is now hooked on Alfas in a big way...I am sooo happy! My wife (Carole) really enjoyed the rallye, more liked loved it!

It's us "common" Alfa owners that keep our club going. You guys did an excellent job! Screw the rich people...I and my family have memories that will last a life time.

Thanks to you all,

Peter Marino

We (the organizers) noticed it. It wasn't for lack of effort. We contacted
a lot of people with a lot of nice Alfas (I don't know if Larry was on the
list or not). I don't know what it is with rich people, they all have to be
eccentric or cantankerous as well?

In the end, one can only do so much to try to cater to these people (we
hired TWO private security guards specifically to address the concerns of
one of them, offered up free meals, registration, etc, and then he ended up
not coming..).

We finally gave up and focused on putting on what we hope was a great show
for the 'normal' folks.

Hope you all enjoyed it,
