I too bought a car off ebay sight unseen. I'll admit the car was cheap, 
within 250 miles, I talked to the owner on the phone, and was going to see 
it and pick it up before any $$ was involved.
It worked out just fine, the owner was honest about the car, I would have 
someone acually set eyes on it if it's very far away and you are having it 
shipped after you send $$.
