[alfa] Re: 6cyl front tranny?
Yes. The first Alfa to use the V-6 was the "Alfa SIx" from about 1979
and it had the transmission in-unit with the engine. This car used
6-single barrel Del'Orto carburettors (imagine the fun synch'ing 6
carbs!) put out 160 BHP, and from all accounts, was an unmitigated
disaster. The engine was rough running and unresponsive, and produced
no low-end torque. The critics of the time lambasted the car and it was
discontinued after 1984 when it was replaced by a transaxled Alfa "90"
sedan. The Alfa-Six was never sold in the USA and fewer than 20,000
were produced. The use of Russian steel in the car's body has assured
most of these cars of an ignominious end.

Subject: [alfa] 6cyl front tranny?
Greetings. Did Alfa use the V6 in any Euro cars with a front
mounted
tranny? Need to settle a bet with a friend. I was thinking that some
sort
of version of the Alfa 6 used this setup, and the trannny was used in
a V6
conversion in a 105 GTV. TIA, Ron.
