[alfa] Re: 1977 GTV 2000 transaxle vibration mystery
Graham,
Everyone is talking like you have a drivshaft problem, but maybe not.
Do you get the vibration in every gear or just in 5th? How about in
neutral? Is it an RPM thing or a speed thing?
If it happens only in 5th gear it is probably a drive shaft problem. But,
if it happens in all gears is could be and engine or transmission problem.
You can also run the car up above the vibration range, put the
transmission in neutral, let the engine back to idle and let the car coast
back thru the vibration range. If you still have the vibration, it is
driveshaft related. If not, it's engine or transmission.

I have recently noticed that I have a strong vibration that starts at
3000 revs and dies down at about 4100 revs. I have had the transaxle
rubber and bearings checked and they all seem in
great condition.
