The fuel pump won't run on a Bosch L-Jet car until the air flow meter
senses air movement through the induction path. To fool it you need to
open the air cleaner and, using something like a long screwdriver, open
the air flap slightly. Then, with the ignition on, you should get power
to the pump.

Someone once told me that L-Jet Spiders don't work that way, and
instead rely on the ECU to switch the fuel pump (via relay,
obviously) based on whether or not the engine is rotating.
