[alfa] Re: caster arm bushing
Tarus reported some difficulty in getting his poly caster arm bushing into
the arm.. from what i can gather from his description, he did not remove
the old bushing's outer shell from the caster arm eye. this shell has to
be pressed out for the new piece to fit properly. since it is designed to
fill the hole in the eye, it is no wonder it was so tight going in. Once
the old shell is out, the piece still has to be pressed in - either with
the method Tarus describes or with a real press. Might go in by hand, or
with a vise, but better to plan on worst case. also is worth getting the
front end aligned whenever you monkey with the arms. it might not need it,
but since you are taking arms apart and then reassembling - and since the
original bushings are probably old and shot - if you have not had the front
end aligned recently, it is probably warranted.
