As always, I highly recommend Citrol to anyone looking for an 
environmentally-friendly degreaser.  It will actually outperform many 
nasty traditional degreasers, to the extent that it's well-liked in 
the petroleum and mining industries.  (Yeah, guys on oil rigs favor 
this stuff over *petroleum-based* solvents.)  The trick is to spray 
the stuff directly on the part (not on a rag or Q-tip) and leave it 
there for a minute or so, longer if it doesn't seem to be effective.
