[alfa] top repair

i'm trying to convince the wife to let me get a new top for the '87 spider 
after almmost 7 years... (with the car, not her).  until then, any tricks 
for fixing the seam around the window? the thread has finally started to 
give way and its coming undone in several parts around it.
