Find a shop that has a "clip on" type tachometer (clips over a spark plug lead) and check your tach acuracy.
OR - borrow a hand held GPS and check your speedometer accuracy, then do the calculations using wheel revs / mile and the gear ratios used (differential, tranny if other than 4th gear) and compare the theoretical engine revs to what your tach reports.
I did this for my '93 Spider Veloce and found that my tach was wildly off - actual RPM of 6500 showed up as about 5300 on my tach amd is comnfirmed by hitting the rev limiter at this speed.
