Otto, I changed out all the hoses on my now mis-shapen 164. I'd bet either the
hose(s) split somewhere along their length, and/or a hose clamp at the rack end
has come loose. To change them: remove the driver's front wheel, remove the
splash-guards, open the hood and remove the plastic covering at the base of the
windshield. With great patience, remove the clamps on the hoses (one goes to the
metal loop under the driver's seat, the other to the rack as I recall), the
resevoir is held in place behind the firewall with a metal band, loosen the nut
and with alot of coaxing the resevoir and hoses should come out as you pull up
along the windshield. Be mindful of which hoses goes where (I think the nipples
on the bottle are in an "over-under" orientation). I went to my local dealer to
get new ones, he suggested just going to a decent auto parts store and getting
hose of the right length and diameter; note that it must be high-pressure hose.
Refitting is, of course, the reverse of removal, except its really a PIA to
refit those hoses and tighten the clamps up. But you'll be real glad when
you're done.....
