RE: [alfa] The other end of the clutch pedal
The clutch pedal shaft on 105 series cars eventually fails from metal
fatigue. The shaft is about 5/8" diam and is necked down to about 3/8"
where it enters the end of the little arm that pushes on the clutch
master cylinder piston. The 3/8" shaft is welded to the arm at its weak
outer end instead of at its stronger 5/8" diam point where it enters the
arm. Consequently metal fatigue takes place within the 3/8" diam part
inside the little arm.
If your clutch shaft has'nt failed yet, you may prevent failure by
removing it and having it welded at the 5/8" point where it enters the
little arm. After failure occurs it is very difficult to restore the
original orientation of the shaft-arm joint resulting in differing
heights of the clutch and brake pedals.
