[alfa] Weber question
My spider is running rich on #1 cylinder. When it started running rough I
changed out the distributor cap, rotor and spark plugs and when #1 cylinder
was suspect I checked the compression and switched plug wires between #1 and
#2 cylinders. The spark plug in #1 is sooty and the exhaust header from that
cylinder is 100-150 degrees cooler than the other 3 so I think it must be a
rich mixture. I swapped jet stacks and idle screws between #1 and #2 barrels
of the carb and the problem stayed on #1. I checked the fuel levels in the
main jet wells and both carbs are the same and within spec, a bit lower than
nominal. The fuel pressure regulator is set at 2.5 psig. There is no
indication of flooding
I suspect the cold start mechanism because I think I have eliminated
everything else. I made sure that the actuator lever is going all the way to
the full closed position and I filed a flat on the end stop to let it go a
bit further. It seems that the next step is to remove the carb and inspect
the cold start mechanism. Is there anything that I have missed?
The carbs are 40DCOE139's and are mounted on a Euro manifold.
Thanks.
