[alfa] GTV6 fuel pump/filter orientation

The system pressure is close to 40 PSI and should not surge due to the by-pass nature of the pressure regulator. The pump supplies fuel to the fuel rail and injectors at a pressure and volume sufficient to allow the pressure regulator to constantly by-pass fuel back to the tank. Choking the hose AFTER the regulator cause the pressure to rise significantly (I've seen 65# in an instant). I doubt surging will occur unless there is a low fuel condition but suspect others will reveal the real reason for the U shaped hoses. Could it be to get the electrical contacts to the rear of the car and away from the normal direction of travel?

I'm certainly not an engineer, [nor do I play one on TV], but
something occurs to me on this that hasn't been mentioned. Perhaps
the strange orientation is purposeful, to affect some insulation in
the fuel lines [though pressurized] from
acceleration/deceleration-induced surges front to rear? Just a
thought to share, forgive me if in light of the pressurization of the
system, this is irrelevant.
