[alfa] Spider oil pressure gauge sender--Thanks
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to say thank you to the people who offered
advice about my problem with the oil pressure gauge
sender on my 1978 Spider. The replacement part sold by
IAP is too long to install as is without getting in
the way of the starter. Just in case anyone else comes
across this problem, we solved it by simply grinding
away about 3/8 of an inch of the plastic that projects
around the electrical connection. That gave enough
clearance to just screw it in. That done, it was a
5-minute replacement.
With the new sender in, the gauge reads about 70 lbs.
while running (as opposed to 57 before) and even when
warmed up, it does not drop down to much less than
50--even at idle. It used to drop to about 10 when
warmmed up at idle. I suspect that the actual reading
doesn't really mean very much. At least it gives SOME
indication.--better than a dead gauge.
Thanks again
Colin
