Re: [alfa] Alfa brake bleed

Hi David:

Just a guess, but I had a similar problem with a rear caliper on my '87 Spider Veloce. Are you sure the caliper body isn't dragging on a rusted section of the brake rotor? In my case, the rebuilt caliper had some flashing that hadn't been fully ground off the caliper body during originally manufacture, and a few hits with a Dremel grinder cleaned it right up.

If it was both calipers (and all four pads) dragging, I might guess that the pressure compensation valve (mounted centrally on the chassis) was at fault, but otherwise, I've got no other suggestions. Good luck.

Thanks for everyone's help. The speedbleeders worked
great during the bleeding, could be the easiest bleed
job I've ever done. HOWEVER, the reason I started this
in the beginning was to eliminate rubbing of a pad in
the pass rear. I thought the caliper was bad so I
replaced it with another (not new or rebuilt either)
and I still get the problem, now it just seems more
pronounced - constant rubbing of the pad like it never
fully releases when the pedal is let off. Any ideas?
