[alfa] Re: The best '84 GTV-6 Maratona 3.OL is for sale.

Dear Digest members:

It's time for me to reduce the size of my collection. I have a wonderful '84
GTV-6 for sale. It's a gentlemen's sports car with outstanding performance;
great comfort and should be viewed as an appreciating asset you can use as a
daily driver.

Below are most of the things you'll want to know if interested.

1984 GTV-6 Maratona b modified for street and track

One owner car, previously owned by John Moreno of Castle Rock, Colorado,
phone number and email upon request. Original dealer bill of sale included as
is
original sales brochure for the Maratona of which a limited edition of 150
models were manufactured.

The Maratona has 32,000 miles and has been garaged for the past 20 years. It
has never seen snow, although it has been driven regularly in fair weather to
Colorado and Florida Alfa Romeo events. The car has been recently surveyed by
AutoVolante of Miami and is mechanically excellent.

The original owner invested heavily in the mechanical and cosmetic
preparation of this car for participation in the Colorado Steamboat Springs
Rally in the
Colorado Rockies.

The original 2.5 L. V-6 was replaced with a Milano Verde 3.0 engine and then
top-end modified to include: bSb cams, Shankle headers, Jacobs ignition
connected to a Knology custom built grounded ignition harness and a Shankle
shifter. This work was done at approximately 27,000 miles with the
collaboration of
Centerline Alfa in Boulder, Colorado. Centerline employees are familiar with
this car and heap praise upon it. This is arguably the fastest GTV-6 in
existence with remarkable acceleration in all gears. It has an estimated 240
hp and
weighs less than 2900 lbs.

A full high performance Shankle suspension system was mounted including
multiple sway bars, lowered springs, and Bilstein racing shocks. The car rides
on
HRE ($8000 list price for a set of five) three-piece machined aluminum racing
wheels with Pirelli Assymetic 205 x 16 in front and 225 x 16 in the rear. The
spare is a Pirelli Assymetric 205 x 16 on an HRE wheel. Tire and wheel
condition are almost as new.

Cosmetically the car is near perfect. There are no traces of rust and the
undercarriage is as clean as the body. A professional repaint was done less
than
four years ago. The paint is outstanding with exception of a tiny rock scratch
measuring less than B= inch in length on the rear passenger side roof pillar
and barely visible at two feet distance. The leather interior has a slight
patina of age but there are no tears, scratches or split seams in the
upholstery.
The headliner was replaced this year. The dash has no cracks, all instruments
work as designed. The electric windows and windshield have no scratches,
cracks, or pitting and function as designed. Hella Quartz fog lamps have been
mounted and are functional. The car no longer has the original Alfa
radio/cassette
as a top-of-the line Sony tuner/CD and speaker system provides superior
entertainment. Air conditioning has been totally revamped and is ice cold even
in
Florida heat. The system has two evaporators with a modern rotary compressor
supplying far more cold air than would normally be needed and is the
equivalent
of the best of modern cars. The original steering wheel comes unmounted with
the car. The wheel in place is a very expensive Fittipaldi leather covered
racing wheel.

Recent (this year) work on the car includes: a complete transaxle overhaul
with replacement of all syncros; a new fuel pump, a complete new Stebro
stainless steel exhaust catalyctic converter system; a new rotary air
compressor and
installation of Ferrodo brake pads. Receipts upon demand.

The car needs nothing else except repair to the cigar lighter which does not
respond to my cell phone charging unit.

This Alfa is a rare limited b edition exotic with the power and handling to
rival and outrun V-8 Ferraris of the early 1980bs.

I am an avid Alfa and Italian car collector. I currently own the following
cars in mint condition: b91 164S Alfa, b74 Alfa GTV with Twin-Spark engine
conversion, b65 Alfa Giulia Spider Veloce (Won 1st in Class in national AROC
convention). Ibm selling the GTV Maratona to finance the restoration of a
rare
exotic I just bought in Italyb&. A b71 Lancia Fulvia Zagato Sport 1600. I
prefer
older cars for my collection.

The price is $16,900.

For photos go to www.stephensalfa.com website. The car is in the
Stephens/Bobcor showroom and is available for inspection week-days in Pompano
Beach,
Florida. Richard Stevens and Bob Cozza are assisting me in selling the car.
