[alfa] DIFFERENTIAL SHIMS

A few years ago I undertook changing gear ratios in a 105 differential. I
purchased the 105 Guilia Differential Manual which explains setting the
preload and backlash of the pinion bearings and carrier bearings, and
getting the correct gear mesh and run-out. I purchased all of the
essential 105 Differential Tools available to the dealers at the time and
also purchased many pinion and differential carrier shims. The process of
setting up a differential is a gruesome, twelve-hour project if you have all
the stuff you need. I was fortunate to have an extra differential all
cleaned-up to work with. Switching a setup from a 4.56 to a 4.11 ratio
proved to be an taxing task - easily mess-up. Here I am again wanting to
buildup an 4.30 ratio with a ring and pinion set acquired from the Ohio
Chapter's parts stash. Pinion and Carrier shims seem to be difficult to get
now that there is no more ALFA-Romeo USA.
Does anyone know a source of these shims or have any good ideas on a easy
way of cutting them from shimstock?

Thanks for the help in advance.
