[alfa] Grazie
About a month ago I posted a request for some info re: my 164L tranny going
out near Chicago. Literally within minutes I started getting responses via
email! Just wanted to say thanks to those who took their time to email/reply;
it really helped take the edge off during a very stressful week while trying
to deal with my first major Alfa catastrophe. I got a lot of helpful, sound
advice. One person emailed "you're not alone" and that in and of itself was
a great deal of comfort as everyone else around me was saying "See, I told you
so!" as I complained about having to spend what little money I had fixing the
car. I continue to be impressed with the dedication and enthusiasm of the
Alfisti on here... So thanks again, and maybe someday I can return the favor.
For those who care, Al Promisco at Italia Automobili seems to have done an
expensive but great job replacing the tranny with an apparently high-quality
rebuild (also expensive) that comes with a 1 yr warranty. Al obviously stands
behind his work and those who said he's expensive but good seem to be right
so far. At least now the decision has been made for me that I'll likely keep
the car as I've now "invested" more than I probably could afford to sell it
for... So one of these days hopefully I'll be meeting some of you in person at
an upcoming event. Grazie molto, Jeremy (1991 164L)
