Subject: [alfa] Clutch MC rebuild.

Greetings to all dear digestii. Yet another chapter in the saga of the
bewitched (87) Spider. This time the clutch master has sprung a leak and all the
fluid has escaped the reservoir. Has anyone out there used a rebuild kit for
these things? if so how easy is it to do? the AIP catalogue shows only a few
rubber parts (ATE master) at $18 vs. >$100 for a new MC.

I have rebuilt various clutch and brake master and slave (wheel)
cylinders over the years. It is no big deal. Make sure you buy a brake cylinder hone
- it is like a small engine cylinder hone - to clean up the bore. Crap,
grunge and maybe rust will have accumulated on the stock bore over the years.
Do make sure to assemble with brake fluid to make everything slide
together and to protect the parts from rust.
If you rebuild the clutch master, you should do the clutch slave and
replace the clutch hose at the same time.
