[alfa] Milano auto tranny shifter cable problem

Have no idea how this thing was shifting before. Thinking I needed a tranny
overhaul or a rebuilt one, I come to find out that the shifter cable is
frozen. Have both ends loose, squirting PB Blaster into it but I fear I'll
have to pull it out and hopefully get it working. I understand the new ones
that Alfa sells for only $240!! are too long. Can you imagine charging that
kind of money for an unusable part?

Any advice or tips on how to get this cable going again?
Thanks much.
