[alfa] centering the steering wheel

If you did not remove the pitman arm from the steering box then you should be able to get things back.

If you did remove the pitman arm then you need to look for the index marks and get the pitman arm relocated to the correct position before you start.

The first thing to do is to find the center of steering by turning the wheel and counting the total number of revolutions. Now turn it half way (not required to be exactly just so that the wheel is now straight.)

Now set the left tie rod so that the left front wheel is pointing straight.

Measure the length of the tie rod and make the passenger side the same length.

Now set the drag link (the long tie rod between the steering box and the idler arm.) so that the passenger wheel is pointing straight.

Now get a good alignment. Set it to

1/32 to 1/16" toe in
1/2 degree negative camber.
2 degrees caster with 3/8 degree offset for road crown.

Enjoy the ride.
