Subject: New to the digest... '58 A-102.. 1/2 Ton
Hi All,
I'm new here, and wanted to say 'Hi'! Looks like the IHC Scouts are the
favorites around here. Hope you don't mind a little light duty truck talk
also.
And here's the first question.....
1) I've read about the A-100 (A-102 chassis was an option) International 50th
anniversary model in 1957. I'm wondering if they made it in 1958 also? (Or
if my '58 is actually a '57). Everything I've read, and the pictures I've
seen, indicate that what I've got is the Anniversary model.. but I have not
found anything that says they made it in '58... only '57. Anybody got lists
of serial numbers or info on the models made in those years? Or a
sure-fire way to know if it's a '58 vs. '57?
And here is the answer:
The "A" line of light & medium trucks were Internationals "Golden
Anniversary" line. One model that was built as a special truck to
celebrate the 50 years of truck production was the Golden Jubilee
Custom Pickup. This truck was a one per dealer item. There were about
3,000 dealers at the time, and not every dealer ordered one. A
Golden Jubilee has the following characteristics:
A102 platform, custom interior, unique fleetside 7' pickup box (looks
similar to a chev cameo pickup) AND MUST BE PAINTED two tone
gold & white.
I have a photo of the GJ sales brochure on our web page in the scrapbook
section. Check there and see if it looks like that.
If you have a truck that is like this but a different color
combination, it is a custom model pickup. IMHO, I think these are
just as rare as a GJ and are both quite collectable.
The "A" series was serial numbered in sequence regardless of model so
it is a little difficult to identify when it was built. E-mail me
your serial number off line and I can look it up for you.
