as far as I know the tachs are going into vehicles that have
GM HEI which has a spark timing tab off the top of the distributor.
I think the sensor is inductive with a spark pulse so that you only
get a switch of 12v when the spark occurs.

Subject: TachometerTip
On that pricey tachometer ... you mention it is for a diesel.  Do 
diesels not pickoff tachometer input via flywheel sensor or 
alternator speed sensor?  Seems I read of this awhile back ... a 
bit more complicated than a garden variety electrical coil pickoff.  
Might this explain the high cost on the unit?  Mark

Mark,

The primary relay is under the dash near the ash tray.  It may be in
a different place as they are rarely tight, so it may just be 
flopping on one bolt.  The relay on the steering column I believe is
the 12v power relay for the ignition and/or the voltage for the gold
box, etc.

Subject: StarterRelayLocation???

A few weeks back, discussion on starter relays ... there are two of 
them I am told.  Key excites "underdash relay" which excites selenoid 
relay which excites starter motor.  My question.  I believe I have 
found the "underdash relay" which I had doubted existed.  Is the 
relay discussed attached to the steering column?  It looks that way 
to me but I have yet to trace the wiring.

Eldon,

I have a KAT's engine heater on my rig, came on it when I
bought it.  The truck was originally from Denver, and here in
Arizona, I have never in 8 years used it.  But, it goes in-line
with the heater core supply line from the water pump housing, not
a freeze plug.  This one plugs in to a grounded 120vac socket
but I'm afraid to plug it in with the wire looking as old as it
does.

I've got to say that if that's a picture of the problem
you're haveing with your t/case, then as soon as you get
the electric guitar out of there, you may have the problem
solved.  *grin*

after doing some 4x4 today i decided to finally take care of the leaky
transfer case on my scout 80 ...ive attached a picture here for those who
might help...the problem is that its leaking from the side where the
intermediate shaft protudes ...on top of the shaft (too keep it from sliding
out)..it has a [square]washer and a bolt that fit into a grove in the
shaft...someone before me decided to use J.B. Weld but like i said it still
leaks...im wondering what to do here.....:?...ideas? tia...rick
