RE: GUNK Engine Flush
I used the Gunk Engine flush on both my Scout, my Blazer
and some old VWs I had. It gets rid of everything. Sludge,
deposits, carbon build up... everything. It does indirectly
cause leaks by removing grime that could be stopping leaks
and caused a drop in compression on one engine I used it
on. I guess some of that junk in the engine did some good.
Its a good idea to waste some oil by running new oil in the
engine for a few miles after you have already drained the
engine flush to flush out the flush then changing the oil and
filter again. You would be surprised how much stuff will come
out with the second oil flush and how thin it will be.
I would only use it if you know the engine is dirty, lifters
are sticking...

My brother in law, who is a VERY good mechanic (professional),
suggested
not long after I bought my 72 Scout II that I go get some of the
Gunk
Engine Flush (I think that's the name, but you guys know what
I'm talking
about) and run it through the engine to clean out the old grime
and stuff.
I don't really mean to mistrust him, but over the years I've
heard some bad
to go with the good, things like causing seals to leak and
causing new
clogs as the loosened crud flows to new places.
I'm just looking for some of those "I tried it" opinions-
