Both were in the wheelwells, one on each side, in front of the rear tires.
You remove the partition in front of the wheels. The tank sits in there
and bolts come up from underneath. You should already have bolt holes and
the opening for the fuel line on both sides.

Call "Light Line of Louisiana." Their number is in the back of the 4x4
rags. They were even getting new ones made, but I don't know if they went
through yet. Also, "The Scout Connection," in your neck of the woods,
would be a good place. Lynn and Heather Faeth are very "800 Friendly."
The vendor list on Jim Weed's Scout page on off-road.com should be a big
help, too. I know "Anything Scout" has tanks listed on their web page,
too. Are you familiar with the classified section of the Binder Bulletin
web page? <www.binderbulletin.com> Check it out!!

Somebody more technical will have to handle this one, but you'll have to be
sure to get the proper 304 flex plate (what engine does the II have? If
it's a 304, you should have no problems. If it's a 345, you might not be
able to use the flexplate. Also, I think the starters are different
between autos and manuals, so use as much of that stuff as you can from the
Scout II.

Should be better than the 3-speed!! Make sure you use the Dana 300
transfer from the Scout II automatic. You may have to get new driveshafts
made regardless. Giddum-up Scout has a kit to use the MUCH BETTER axles
from that Scout II under your 800. If you have the funds, it would be
highly recommended. You have good axles, but the Dana 44 in the front of
the II would have discs and would be much stronger than your Dana 30. It
would stop much better, too.
