Re: "Clunk" and steering box worries




	I had a 67 800 that would clunk when I turned R or L but only
after I drove through some water or it was raining. I kept tring to figure
it out (it took me a couple times to figure out it only happened when
water was introduced) 

	What was happening was My front leaf spring clamps ( that hold the
leaves together) were loose and due to an oil leak by the starter that
sides leafsprings had accumulated some oil. every time they got splashed
good, the water and oil between the springs allowed them to shift when I
turned. (only an inch, but it made a nifty clunk and sent a quick shake up
to the steering wheel which can really get you worried!)
